Across the Bay

An assignment for Touring Magazine took me to Oakland, California — a city I had never visited before and approached without expectations.

The weather was not particularly cooperative, but the shifting light added texture to the urban landscape. Between industrial lines, waterfront views and unexpected perspectives across the Bay, Oakland revealed a character both raw and vibrant.

Beyond the skyline, the city’s energy lives in its neighborhoods — murals layered over brick walls, independent cafés, music venues and record stores that still treat vinyl as a ritual rather than a trend.

The project became an exploration of atmosphere as much as place: documenting a city that balances grit and creativity, introspection and movement.
